Obituary of Judy Rowden

Judy Loveda Rowden, 76, went home to heaven on the morning of Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the peaceful Dorothy Ley Hospice with loved ones by her side. Born March 19, 1943 in a taxicab during a snowstorm in Timmins, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Francis Rowden. Judy attended the University of Toronto where she graduated with a degree in Archaeology. She then graduated from the Toronto Teachers’ College in 1963 and went to work for the Toronto District School Board. While there, her musical talent came to light during a Christmas party where she was overheard playing Billy Joel’s The Piano Man. This earned her an additional position as the school’s music teacher. Never one to boast, and generous with her time, she put another one of her hidden talents to work and sewed her cousin, Sharon, a wedding dress. She had an adventurous spirit and her love of traveling began with a three year VW bus tour across Europe. Greece was her favourite country.During her life, she made friends with everyone she came across. Most people would describe her as one of the kindest people they’d ever met. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Stefanie.
