Obituary of Sui Lung Wong
Wong Sui Lung was born in Taishan, Guangdong province, China. As an only child, he was raised by his paternal grandmother after his mother passed away giving birth to him. He lived his childhood during the Second World War, and Wong Sui Lung started working at age twelve for food and board. Being orphaned, he faced struggles with acceptance from family members and poverty.Then he travelled to Guangzhou for work in factories and then to Hong Kong.In Hong Kong, he met his wife (Wong May Wai) and they got married in 1960. Then he had his only child (Dorothy Cheung). He worked as a barber and operated his own barber shop. The family immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1973. He and his family lived in downtown Toronto, where Wong Sui Lung worked as a cook and barber, until his retirement in 1998.He focused his life to provide for his family, help his village kinsmen when they were in need, and to share love to others.He cared a lot for the needs of others and often bought food or coffee for strangers. He was very handy to maintain the homes in lived in, loved to cook Chinese food for his wife and family, and provide free haircuts. He also loved watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play hockey, play mahjong, and listening to Chinese opera. He always looked out for the safety of his loved ones, often encouraging vigilance and awareness of surroundings. On July 1, 2019, he was diagnosed with cancer. On Dec 21, 2019, he accepted Jesus Christ as His Saviour and was baptized. On Jan 18, 2020, Wong Sui Lung passed away peacefully at home. Wong Sui Lung is survived by his wife, daughter, son in law (Alex Cheung), granddaughter (Carmen) and her husband (Craig), grandson (Derek) and his fiancé (Rebecca), nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and village kinsmen.
