Obituary of Eva Van Kooten
Van Kooten, Eva - Ebeltje Van Kooten known as Eva, passed with peace and grace in her 96th year in Milton on Sunday, January 12, 2020. Devoted mother of three children Bert Van Kooten (Patricia), Rina Van Kooten (William Verrall), John Van Kooten (Elleke, deceased). Predeceased by her beloved husband, Corstiaan, of 69 years. Proud Oma of her grandchildren Daniel Van Kooten (Melanie), Lisa Van Dam, Darron Stepanich (Colette), Jennifer Sankey (Dwayne), Kristina Preece (Sean), Christopher Van Kooten (Ashley), Caitlin Van Kooten (Denis Luchyshyn), Anika Van Kooten and Nicole Van Kooten and her great-grandchildren Olivia, Braeden, Luke, Dillon, Colette, Austin, Logan, Jack, Stella (deceased), Milo, Taylor, Hudson, Walker and Conrad. She will be missed by many other family members in The Netherlands and Australia. Eva was born on August 19, 1924 in the town of Emmen in the province of Drenthe in the northeastern region of The Netherlands and immigrated with Corstiaan and Bert to Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1948. Living in Kingston, Oakville and Mississauga, she was a selfless mother, wife and friend to all those she encountered. When her children were a little older she went to Nursing School and became an RPN working for many years at The Pines Nursing Home in Clarkson. Eva went back to school again in her later years and after graduating from Humber College in business enjoyed a 15-year career with CIBC. Eva was affectionate, tenacious, warm-hearted, hard working, independent and feisty with a good sense of humour. She loved her family dearly and cared for her husband and home until 90 years of age. The family expresses appreciation to members of Allendale Long Term Care Home in Milton for her care these past years and all of the love, care and friendship she received over the years in the Oakville community. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
