James “Jim” Arthur WhittakerChief Engineer – Communications with the Canadian Coast Guard, Ret’dAt home on Friday, January 10, 2020, at the age of 86, surrounded by and with the love of his family, following a second valiant battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Sandy. Dear father of Carole Cockell (Kevin), Charles (Doris), Bruce (Linda) and Patrick (Sandra); and step-father to Brad Hector (Nancy), Debbie Crowel (Dave) and Jeff Hector (Lisa). Proud grandfather of Ryan and Everett (Jeannine); Sean and Morgan; Derek; Gavin and Simone. Dear brother of Alfred (Carol). He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his canine companion Chrissy. The family wish to extend their gratitude to the staff from Carefor and the Ottawa Hospitals for the care Jim received and to Viva Staff and Residents for all their support. A visitation will be held at Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Dr., Nepean on Thursday, January 23 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm and on Friday, January 24 from 10:00 am until time of service which will be held in the Chapel at 11:00 am, followed by a reception.In lieu of flowers, a donation to ottawacancer.thankyou4caring.org or Merivale United Church would be appreciated.
