Obituary of Domenic Brandonisio

Brandonisio, Domenic – Peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2020,at his home, with his family by his side, in his 91st year. Devoted husband of Maria of 62 years. Loving dad of Joe (Susanne), Rosanna (Gilberto), Vic (Lisa) and Mariella (Mike). Proud nonno of Sabina, Christopher, Camila, Michael, Madelyn and Emma. Survived by his eldest sister Domenica. Predeceased by his elder sister Donata and brother Francesco.Born in the town of Loseto, in Puglia (Italy), Domenic grew up during war times and although unable to finish school, he wastaken under the wing of the English and not only worked for them; he gained an education at the same time. After completing compulsory military training, he was fortunate enough to be recruited “nella finanza”, where he experienced exciting work and travel throughout northern Italy. His love of the alps remained with him and he spoke often of his experiences there.In 1951 he took a giant leap and immigrated to Canada. On a fated trip back home in 1955; his life would change forever. While walking through his hometown, he spotted the woman who would be the love of his life. Domenic and Maria married 2 years later. His next big leap was in leaving a secure job for an unfamiliar opportunity in life insurance. A 30 year, career with London Life not only took care of his family; but every client who ever trusted in him. People were of constant interest to Domenic; he spoke with everybody and he would get to know a perfect stranger in five minutes flat. He enjoyed discussing any subject and worked endlessly to convince you that his way, was the right way.Domenic loved to read, play checkers and walk in the woods near his home. In his spare time, he enjoyed cultivating fruit trees and perfecting his lawn. He fought endlessly with rabbits, grubs and squirrels that threatened his hard work.Domenic lived by his rules and his faith. A lifetime later that includes four children, six grandchildren, long time friends and a successful career; Domenic led a fulfilled and wonderful life for which he always remained grateful.
