Obituary of Doreen Queeley

Doreen Queeley, age 89, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019, at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto. She was born in Basseterre, St. Kitts, on April 23, 1930, to Bernadine James and Osmond Queeley. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Doreen Queeley announces her passing. She was a guiding light and strength to her siblings, family and friends. She will be dearly missed.Doreen was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and she shared her faith with all, was a volunteer extraordinaire in her community, and received many acknowledgements, accolades and awards for her volunteer work with children and seniors. Most notably for her volunteer work with the Boys and Girls’ Friday Night Group (The Craft Club) at Danforth Gospel Hall and her ministry at Fountain View Community Care and Main Street Terrace Long Term Care. Doreen had a long and rewarding profession in nursing, dedicating her life to serving others. She retired in 1995 from Sunnybrook Health Science Centre. A loving sister to Veronica Clarke, Ursula Harris (deceased), Walford Queeley (Ernestine) and Theresa Lewis (William). Adoring aunt to Valerie, Debbie, Roselee (deceased), Donna (Bruno), Karen (Jochen), Shelley (Norris), Shawn, Jacqueline, Jennifer, Lisa, Joseph, Patricia, Chriscelda, Althea (Roger), and Terry (Marina). She was a beloved great-aunt of her 15 grand-nieces and grand-nephews along with her one great-grand-nephew. Additionally, she had many friends, who became her extended family, whom will sorrowfully miss her.The Viewing will be held on Friday, January 10th, 2020, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 11th at 10 a.m. at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Road (Tel: 416-267-4656). The Funeral Service will be held on January 11th at 11 a.m. at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens (2700 Kingston Road, 3 traffic lights west from the funeral home).Doreen Queeley’s family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Michael Garron Hospital, and the VHA Home Health Care, for their attentiveness and loving care. In lieu of flowers and in loving memory of Doreen, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
