Obituary of Piao Chen
Piao CHEN, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 93. He came to Canada in 1995 to see his family and care for his grandchildren, Larissa and Mikella Chang. He was predeceased by his wife Xuan Ying Huang in 1999, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his son Dr. Lee Chen & Dr. Wen Guo, Sammy and Stacey Chen; his daughter Dr. Ling Huang & Michael and Larrissa and Mikella Chang; his grand niece Zhuo Huang & Chuan Bin Wu and Eric Ng; His nephew Dr. Hong-Suo Sun & Dr. Zhong-Ping Feng, Jonathan & Elissa Caccavella and Christopher Sun.He is also survived by one brother in China, Zun Hao Chen and other family members outside of Canada.Piao Chen was born in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, China on July 26, 1929. He worked as a Chemistry Professor at Tianjin Medical University. He was a fairly good middle distance runner, and loved soccer, swimming and walking. His interest included reading and travelling.He read through the entire Bible more than once in English and Chinese. He loved to play the piano and sing hymns. He also experienced the harsh Communist Re-Education program for almost a year and was denied benefits and professional privileges. We are grateful for the care he received at Yee Hong LTC in Mississauga and especially his caregivers, Qian Fang, Linda Shing, Michael’s niece Alonia Galassi and friend Leah, and Peggy Lam.In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Trillium Health Partners Foundation or the Bible League Canada.
