Obituary of James Bowie
James BowieA celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene for James Gordon “Jim” Bowie of Eugene, who died Feb. 22 of age-related causes. He was 93.He was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Los Angeles to Walter and Elsie Walker Bowie. He married Patricia Carr on June 21, 1946, in Richmond, Ind.He received his bachelor’s degree from Occidental College and his master of science and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. He was a lieutenant commander in the Navy and served during World War II in the Pacific Theater through 1946. He founded Pacific Preserving Company and was professor at the Loyola Marymount University college of business administration and taught internationally with his wife.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill of Bear Valley, Calif., and Craig of Flagstaff, Ariz. ; a daughter, Sophia Bowie-McCoy, of Eugene; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
