Obituary of Ralph Howarth
Ralph HowarthA memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the dining hall of the Washington Abbey in Eugene for Ralph S. Howarth of Eugene, who died Feb. 13 of age-related causes. He was 89.He was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Howard and Elsie Shelton Howarth. He married Wilma Roslyn Auten on Jan. 31, 1948, in Mansfield, Ohio. She died in March of 2011.He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University. He spent three years in the Army during World War II. He served in an engineering battalion in the Pacific Theater, building air strips in New Guinea and saw combat action at the end of the war in the Philippines. He taught high school at University School in Cleveland, Ohio, for 33 years and retired in 1985.Survivors include three sons, Donald and Robert, both of Eugene, and Jon of Junction City.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
