He has been instrumental in the enthronement of the Holy Infant Jesus at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Appropriately, he coined the name of the Assembly of the Holy Infant Jesus as well. Further, he and his family initiated the prayerful movement for the Sainthood of San Pedro Calungsod and was blessed to attend the Canonization in Rome. Through group effort, there currently lies a bronze life-sized statue of San Pedro Calungsod at the Martyrs’ Shrine in Midland, Ontario. His most recent project was the prayerful movement for the Sainthood of Bishop Teofilo Camumot who is also aCebuano. He was a founding member of Friends of Teofilo Camumot. The congregational prayer for his Sainthood continues to this day after the 5 pm Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in Pilipino at the Our Lady of the Assumption. Throughout his church activities and projects, he instilled the value of service above self in which his familycontinues to uphold to this day. In essence, his life revolved around his family and Church. He treasured his 17 grandchildren- Lyle, Chesca, Gustavo, Trisha, Neil, Princess, Angelo, Dane, Joey, Wona, BY,Anzelm, Shawn, Adrian, Zarrah, Zoran, Zayah and the most recent addition to thefamily his great-granddaughter Ellie. Monthly family dinners are a staple inthe Uy household. He was proud and thankful to God to have his whole familytogether. Although far from his grandchildren in Cebu, he makes an effort to show his love and support throughsocial media. Recently, he was ecstatic to have learned that Gustavo graduated SummaCum Laude at the University of San Carlos. All of his children and grandchildrenwere his pride and joy but his “Ga” will always be his forever love.
