Obituary of James Bruce

James BruceA celebration of life will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Gateway Gardens in Eugene for James “Jim” Bruce of Eugene, who died March 5 of complications due to multiple sclerosis. He was 77.He was born Aug. 21, 1934, in Woodland, Wash., to Harold and Harriet Luhrs Bruce. He married Joyce Gilbertson on April 18, 1962, in Reno, Nev.He was a graduate of Eugene High School. He worked in various positions, including locomotive engineer and road foreman of engines for 42 years.Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christine Drake of Springfield and Nancy Calhoon of Lake Oswego; a brother, Merle of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Sharon Hutchins of Bend; and four grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Portland.
