William Jones

Obituary of William Frederick Jones

Jones, William Frederick, born on May 15, 1929 in his 91st year passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of November 24th after suffering from a stroke that lead to Alzheimer’s. Predeceased by his beloved wife Doreen, of 63 years of marriage, on September 21st, 2019. Loving father of Kathleen Lepidas (George), Sheila Jones (Rob Cooper), cherished grandfather of Jeffrey, Isobel and Pinky. Bill was an only child, however; he is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many extended family and friends. Playing his trumpet in many bands such as several military bands all his life, gave him much pleasure as did playing the drums that was self-taught. He enjoyed many winters travelling to Florida with his wife Doreen as well as doing crossword puzzles, reading and enjoying a mighty cocktail from time to time. He was of Irish decent as both parents were from Ireland, however; he was born in the U.S. and moved to Windsor, Ontario when he was 3. Those who met him knew he was witty, caring and quite stubborn but had a wickedly dry sense of humour. It brings the family peace knowing he is reunited with his soulmate, Doreen, who he missed terribly. Our family is very thankful to the special healthcare angels at the Trillium Mississauga Hospital who took great care of our Dad in his final 5 weeks of life. May both parents Rest in Peace together forever. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 29th, 2019 at the Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (at Dundas Street). The service will take place at the Crestview Chapel located down the road from the main building.
