Obituary of Franklin Shove
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Dexter for Franklin C. Shove of Pleasant Hill, who died March 8 of complications of Parkinson’s disease and diabetes. He was 72.Recitation of the rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at the church.He was born Feb. 25, 1940, in Junction City to Melvin and Elnora Weller Shove. He married Susan Jean Roessel on Aug. 25, 1962, in Eugene.He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1958. He served in the Army from Jan. 21, 1959, to May 31, 1963. He worked as a slack line yarder engineer in the logging industry, including working for CRNK.Logging and Lou Surcamp Logging Co. He owned and operated F&S Brush Cutting. He retired in 2000.Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael of Springfield; a daughter, Mary Parker of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, the Diabetes Foundation or St. Henry Catholic Church in Dexter.
