Obituary of Norman Wildish
Norman WildishA memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 31 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Eugene for Norman E. Wildish of Eugene, who died March 8 of age-related causes. He was 95.He was born June 8, 1916, in Rock Lake, N.D., to Thomas and Verna Ellis Wildish. He married Olga Evelyn Monson on Oct. 2, 1937. She died July 5, 2007.He graduated in 1942 from Oregon State University with a degree in engineering.In 1942, he started his professional career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, Conn., working as an experimental project engineer.In 1945, he started his own sand and gravel company and in 1951 he began working for the Wildish companies.During his years with Wildish, he served as the company construction manager, vice president in charge of construction and general manager.In 1982 he reduced his leadership role and became vice chairman of the board. He continued his board position until his death.Survivors include a brother, Jim of Eugene; five sisters, Alberta Steadman, Edith Pattee, Rebecca Dickinson and Mary Helen Mickel, all of Eugene, and Jean Jensvold of Camas, Wash.Private inurnment will be at in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Eugene.
