Obituary of Helen Baker

The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Springfield Memorial Gardens for Helen Baker of Springfield, who died March 28 of age-related causes. She was 77.She was born April 5, 1934, in South Dakota to Edwin and Laura Schwanke Little. She married Lee Smoot on Oct. 12, 1952, in Englewood, Calif. He died previously. She married Loyd Baker on Feb. 8, 2003, in Springfield.She worked as a care provider for senior foster homes.Survivors include her husband; a son, Dayne Smoot of Eugene; a daughter, Deborah Safley of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Springfield.Remembrances may be sent to Senior and Disabled Services.
