Betty Martinson

Obituary of Betty Martinson

On April 27, 2012 the Lord took our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and Matriarch of the Martinson family, Betty Martinson. She was born to Walter and Doris Wicks Jan 2, 1935 in Wendling, OR. She died at the age of 77 of Pancreatic Cancer after a battle that was valiantly fought. At the age of 4, Betty and her family moved to the Jasper Mill site where she lived through her teenage years and had some very fond memories. At age 19 she married The Love of her Life Don Martinson, she stated "He had the cutest green 41 Chevy Club Coupe car and he wasn't bad looking either". When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up Betty said, "A Wife and a Mother". Betty expanded that to grandmother and great-grandmother. On March 26th, Don and Betty celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary. Betty spent most of her life as a housewife, mother, avid gardener, and center point for her expanding family. Betty was the Hub of the family, every important decision made by any family member was run by Betty first and her sound opinions and a steady council were always positive and non-judgmental. Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her! She is survived by her husband, Don Martinson of Eugene. Daughters: Cindy Brown and Tammy Crafton, both of Eugene. Brother, Floyd Wicks of Glen Eden Beach, OR. Grandchildren: Connie Morris of Yakima, WA; Bridgett Morris of Eugene; and Kevin Crafton of Escondido, CA. Great grandchildren: Austen Morris-Cole of Eugene, and Graison Sherman-Morris of Yakima, WA. A public viewing at Lane Memorial Gardens is set for May 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed at 2 p.m. by her funeral service. Friends and family are invited to gather for a potluck at the home of Terry and Tammy Crafton after the services. Donations can be made to Cascade Hospice in memory of Betty Martinson.
