Obituary of Elwyn Jackson
Elwyn JacksonVENETA — A graveside service with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene for Elwyn H. Jackson of Veneta, who died May 1 of age-related causes. He was 100.He was born June 30, 1911, in Memphis, Tenn., to Hugh and Mary Wheeler Jackson. He married Helen Painter on Nov. 11, 1938, in Empire. She died Sept. 8, 1994.He was retired from the Navy as a chief radioman, serving in World War II and Korea. He worked for the First Congregational Church as a caretaker.Survivors include a son, Dan Jackson of Salem; a daughter, Darlene Cockrum of Eugene; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
