Obituary of Elizabeth Lynch

Elizabeth LynchElizabeth Jane “Betty” Lynch of Eugene died April 29 at age 87. The family chose not the list the cause of death. A private family memorial is planned.She was born June 25, 1924, in Ferndale, Calif., to Frank and Maud Reed McKee. She married A. Thomas Lynch on Sept. 1, 1949, in Stockton, Calif. He died previously.She received her undergraduate degree from the University of The Pacific in Stockton, and her master’s degree from the University of Iowa. She was the first female faculty member to work at the University of Notre Dame. She was later director of special education for schools in the city of South Bend, Ind. She retired in 1990.Survivors include a son, Brogan of Eugene; five daughters, Lucy Lynch and Megan Lynch, both of Eugene, Mary Michael Lynch of Maui, Hawaii, Sarah Hadley of Carmel, Ind., and Laura Hoover of Swisher, Iowa; a sister, Marsha McKenzie of Stockton; and three grandchildren.Inurnment will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Notre Dame, Ind. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to Eugene Public Library.
