The Rev. Arthur ShankleThe funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 26, at Willamette Christian Center in Eugene for the Rev. Arthur Shankle of Eugene, who died May 19 of age-related causes. He was 82.He was born March 24, 1930, in Wiergate, Texas, to Donnie and Essie Steel Shankle. He married Luevenia Newton on Aug. 13, 1954, in Eugene.He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a homebuilder and pastored Bethel Temple Faith Ministries for 47 years and for Salem Mission from 1976 to 2012.Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald Shankle of Eugene; a daughter, Michelle Brown of Eugene; three brothers, Leautry Shankle of Cincinnati, and Willie Shankle and Ceautry Shankle, both of Galveston, Texas; and two sisters, Versie Morrison of Los Angeles and Ann Henderson of Wiergate.A private inurnment will be held.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
