Dennis SolbergDennis T. “Bill” Solberg of Springfield died May 30 of melanoma. He was 93. A memorial service is planned for a later date.He was born June 22, 1918, in Sheridan, Wyo., to Oscar and Grace Daly Solberg. He married Lois Calkins on Jan. 28, 1950, in Mohawk.He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1937 and attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D.He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre from 1942 to 1946 and saw action on the Islands of Iwo Jima and Saipan.He farmed and ranched near Bismarck, N.D., and retired in 1980.Survivors include his wife; a son, John of Edina, Minn.; a daughter, Susan Grigsby of Springfield; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Private inurnment will be at Valley View Cemetery.
