John StewartVENETA — John W. Stewart of Veneta died May 27 of emphysema. He was 79.He was born May 30, 1933, in Ridley Township, Pa., to John and Daisey Waite Stewart. He married Delores Kumpula in 1955. She died in 1996.He attended Redondo Beach High School in California. He served in the Navy in 1955. He worked as a Lane County sheriff’s deputy from 1973 to 1988.Survivors include his domestic partner of 16 years, Deanna Fulton; two sons, Ken of Idaho and Robert of Oregon; a daughter, Diane Stewart of California; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A son, Jay, died previously.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
