William RoyA memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Eugene for William Neal “Bill” Roy of Eugene, who died June 14 of complications from esophageal cancer. He was 71.He was born May 21, 1941, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Alexander and Lois Whitesell Roy. He married Patricia O’Brien. They later divorced. He married Marlee Richey on March 18, 1989, in Lebanon.He graduated from high school in Zanesville, Ohio.He graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 1965. He graduated from the University of Iowa with master of arts and master of fine arts degrees in 1968.He worked as an assistant professor of art at the University of Oregon from 1968 to 1978. He worked as a building contractor and was owner of Bill Roy Builder. He also owned McKenzie Iron & Steel, a model railroading business.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chris of Seattle and Alex of Springfield; a daughter, Nichole Roy of Eugene; a sister, Thea Roy of Providence, R.I.; and one grandchild.Private inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.
