Obituary of Donald Vermilyea

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 29, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Don E. Vermilyea Sr. of Eugene, who died June 24 of age-related causes. He was 83.He was born Feb. 11, 1929, in Huntersville, Minn., to Leo and Ruth Goodman Vermilyea.He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Wash., in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He worked for Lane Plywood for more than 25 years, then for Trus Joist until he retired.Survivors include a son, Don Jr. of Forest Grove; two daughters, Valerie Hover of Springfield and Kathryn Harvey of Warminster, Pa.; a brother, Ev of Richland Center, Wis.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Connie, and a great-grandson, Jaziah, both died Jan. 1, 2009.Arrangements by Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to the National Rifle Association.
