Obituary of Harland Towne
Harland Towne CRESWELL — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Creswell High School in Creswell for Harland D. Towne of Creswell, who died Aug. 5 of age-related causes. He was 83. He was born March 29, 1929, in Riverside, Ore., to John and Etta Stewart. He married Carolyn Ruth Cederberg on Sept. 2, 1952, in Firth, Idaho. He held a bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University and a master’s degree from the University of Oregon. He worked for Creswell High School as a teacher and coach for basketball, cross country and track from 1960 to 1974, and for Junction City High School from 1975 until his retirement in 1992. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Patrick Towne of Myrtle Point, Michael Towne of Underwood, Wash., and Anthony Towne of Eugene; two daughters, Julia Towne of Portland and Teresa Towne of Sacramento; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
