Obituary of John W. Cooper
JUNCTION CITY — A potluck memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Olivet Baptist Church in Veneta for John W. Cooper of Junction City, who died Aug. 7 of age-related causes. He was 88.He was born April 5, 1924, in Sublimity to John and Ida Clemence Cooper. He married Marilyn Cooper on July 3, 1969. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked for International Paper Co. as a log truck driver.Survivors include his wife; a son, David of Prineville; a daughter, Linda Bouscarie of New Jersey; two stepsons, Jim Ramsey of Battle Ground, Wash., and Bob Ramsey of Milwaukie; two stepdaughters, Maxine Vargas of Toppenish, Wash., and Toni Ramsey of Sisters; a sister, Barbara Ridell; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.A son, Dale, died previously. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jim Cooper and his sisters Irene Jeffers, Dora Hanner, Jean Zimmerman, Myrtle Miller, Edna Smith, Maxine Hoover, and Dorothy Kratz.Private inurnment will be held. Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City.
