Obituary of Daniel Smead

Daniel SmeadDaniel L. Smead of Eugene died Aug. 23 at age 81. The family chose not to list the cause of death. No service is planned.He was born April 5, 1931, in Oakland, Calif., to Wesley and Lillian Sherwood Smead.He married Peggy Ann Ship on Oct. 25, 1957, in California. She died Jan. 13, 2011.He graduated from Palo Alto High School in California and attended Riverside Community College.He worked as a school bus driver for the Bethel School District.Survivors include a son, Andrew of Eugene; a daughter, Vicki Retzman of Springfield; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Christopher Smead, died in 2008.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
