Obituary of Melba Eckhoff

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 31, at Springfield Memorial Gardens for Melba Idelle Eckhoff of Springfield, who died Aug. 28 of age-related causes. She was 83. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held later.She was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Eugene to Martin and Esther Lee Sharrard. She married Eldon Eckhoff on May 3, 1947, in Springfield.She graduated from Springfield High School in 1946. She was a certified professional secretary. She worked in the lumber industry working for several companies until she retired from Hirt & Wood in 1994.Survivors include a daughter, Karen Eckhoff of Toluca Lake, Calif.
