Kenneth BierstekerVENETA — The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at St. Thomas Becket Roman Catholic Church in Veneta for Kenneth J. Biersteker of Veneta, who died Sept. 5 of age-related causes. He was 80. Recitation of the rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.He was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Sobieski, Wis., to Joseph and Esther Tiller Biersteker. He married Lois Fraker on Sept. 3, 1955, in Green Bay, Wis. She died Jan. 4, 1998.He graduated from Central Catholic High in Green Bay. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked as a TV repairman in Wisconsin and also worked in maintenance for North Central Airlines. He owned his own firewood businesses in Douglas and Lane counties.Survivors include seven sons, David of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark of Green Bay, Wis., John of Suffolk, Va., and Richard, Jerry, Stephen and Jeffrey, all of Veneta; three daughters, Joan Maynard of Roseburg, Brenda Hand of Hollister, Calif., and Sharon Murphy of Veneta; four brothers, Pete, Bruce, Patrick and Roger; three sisters, Lola, Nancy and Janet; 33 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Diane Kniess, died July 11, 2002.Burial will be at St. Thomas Becket Roman Catholic Cemetery.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to St. Thomas Becket Academy Guardian Angel Fund in Veneta.
