Obituary of Doyle Wald

SPRINGFIELD — The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home in Springfield for Doyle Wald of Springfield, who died Sept. 11 of cancer. He was 80.He was born April 23, 1932, in Alexandria, Minn., to Fred and Marion Larson Wald. He married Darlene Wevley on June 21, 1952, in El Reno, Okla.He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1950 to 1953. He received four Bronze service stars and a Purple Heart. He worked in farming when he was younger and in the forest logging after his military service. He also worked at Weyerhaeuser for 33 years, retiring as a dry lumber superintendant in 1987.Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rick of Springfield, Russell of Eugene and Ron Wald of Temecula, Calif.; a daughter, Sandra Hankins of Eugene; two sisters, Sharon Comer of Springfield and Joan Cassidy of Bandon; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Musgrove’s at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Springfield.
