Obituary of Donald Michael

GLADSTONE — A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home for Donald W. Michael of Gladstone, formerly of Springfield, who died Oct. 16 of age-related causes. He was 88.He was born June 15, 1924, in Eugene to John and Edna Stephens Michael.He married Helen Durbin in 1944 in Eugene.He graduated from Thurston High School in 1941 and attended the University of Oregon. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 as a technician 4th grade.He was a dairyman and farmer from 1952 to 1969 in Thurston.He also worked as an agribusiness banker in the Portland area.He worked from 1969 to 1989 at First Interstate Bank and then at Wells Fargo, retiring in 1989.Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffry of Oregon City; two daughters, Pamela of Milwaukie and Stephanie Goodpaster of Camas, Wash.; and three grandchildren.Private burial will be held at Springfield Memorial Gardens.Arrangements by Musgrove’s at Springfield.
