Obituary of Ray Smith

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home for Ray Smith of Eugene, who died Nov. 5 of cardiac arrest. He was 71.He was born Aug. 11, 1941, in Carlisle, Pa., to Martin and Viola Failor Smith.He married Connie Medlin on March 18, 1972, in Eugene.He attended school through eighth grade. He was a truck driver and equipment operator.Survivors include his wife; a son, David of Bullard, Texas; three daughters, Kimberly Mason of Creswell, Tracie Shove of Springfield and Carla Bliven of Eugene; a brother, Ralph of Carlisle, Pa.; seven sisters, Mary Hughes of Florida, Laura Riley of Portland, Ruth Johnson of Battle Ground, Wash., Donna Anderson of Veneta, Delores Fisher of Elmira, Florence Beall of Springfield and Clare Hartgrave of Saginaw; and 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
