Obituary of Dean McKay

Dean McKayThe funeral will be at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 16, at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene for Dean E. McKay of Portland, formerly of Lane County, who died Nov. 9 of age-related causes. He was 90. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.He was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Eugene to Hiram and Mary Etta McKay. He married Beverly Jean Moses on May 5, 1947, in Eugene. She died previously.He attended the University of Oregon from 1940 through 1942. He served in the Navy from 1942 through 1945. He operated McKay’s Market and Dean’s Market from 1946 through 1976. He worked as a hardware clerk at Carlson’s Hardware from 1977 through 1987.Survivors include three sons, Kevin of Portland, Eric of Junction City and Kelly of Eugene; two daughters, Lisa Feringa of Portland and Marilee Brown of Springfield; a sister, Jean Fraedricks of Phoenix, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Kimbol McKay, died previously.A committal service will be at 1 p.m., today at Rest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
