Obituary of Bessie Burgess

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene for Bessie Irene “Bess” Burgess of Grand Ronde, formerly of Lane County, who died Nov. 14 of age-related causes. She was 87. Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A reception will follow the funeral.She was born May 3, 1925, in Salem to Edwin and Alice Jeffers Rife.She attended Cook County High School in Prineville. She was a homemaker.Survivors include two sons, Daniel Stroebel of Eugene and Roger Stroebel of Salem; a daughter, Deanna Ellingson of Grand Ronde; a brother, Bobby Rife of Culver; two sisters, Ruby Golden of Grand Ronde and ClareAnn Watts of Tulsa; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Private burial will be at Gates Cemetery. Arrangements by Musgrove’s at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to Greenhill Humane Society.
