Obituary of Izola Bish
November 16, 2012 Our beloved mother, Izola Virginia Bish passed away peacefully, November 16th, of age related causes, she was 96. Loving wife of Leonard Bish, who died in 2002. They were married almost 65 years. Mother of Lita West & husband, Edward. Jan Griesel & husband, Ron and Tom Bish. Loving Grand-Mother to Randy Griesel, Greg Griesel, Tonya Dornhecker, Anne Curran, Steve Laurance, Sue Conrad & John Laurance; 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma to John & Alice Isham, she attended Dorena Grade School and graduated from Cottage Grove High School. She loved to ride horses, hike, dance & play basketball. Growing up she worked in Seaside where she swam in the Ocean and dated Leonard for five years prior to their marriage. She was an avid supporter of University of Oregon sports & Daisy Ducks. She loved to read, garden & canned fruits and vegetables for most of her life. She was an excellent seamstress and cook, she was a Democratic Committee Woman many years driving Rose Kennedy around Eugene, when she was campaigning for John Kennedy. She loved hiking and Kayaking with Eugene Parks & Recreation and was a member of Eugene Women's Club, where she played bridge. She retired from Agripac Cannery In Eugene. She loved to travel and was full of a 'zest for life'. Loved to joke and laugh and was a loving comforter to those around her. She appreciated the care & love she received at Quail Park. A Family Celebration of Life will take place next spring. Four brothers & sisters preceded her in death, including a brother, Orville Isham, who was killed in the Pearl Harbor attack on The Arizona and is still aboard.
