Louise Swartz

Obituary of Louise Swartz

Louise May Swartz passed peacefully into the Lord?s hands on November 16, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was 91. She was born to Louis and Pearl (Wittorff) Sinnar on May 1, 1921 in Portland, Oregon. She was the oldest of two girls. She married Lowell Swartz on June 14, 1942 in Eugene, Oregon, shortly before Lowell enlisted in the Navy. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage together. Over the years they operated several businesses, including the Swartz Market, Swartz Rambler, Country Camper, and Eugene Recreation Sales. It was often noted that whenever a customer asked to speak to "the boss", Lowell referred them to Louise. Her key ring fittingly contained a key fob denoting "The Boss". She was an excellent bookkeeper and office manager, and had previously served as City Recorder for Coburg. She was a tireless volunteer, especially regarding children's issues. Her most notable achievement was the implementation of the hot lunch program in Coburg's schools. Louise was a member of United Lutheran Church where she attended service regularly until her health interfered. She loved her church and her God. She was a woman of strong faith even to the end, always insisting her Bible be by her side. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was happiest when she was in the presence of her family. They were truly her greatest joy, and she was always vocal in letting them know. She enjoyed being a part of the many birthdays, school activities, wedding and events. One of her greatest pleasures was seeing us all together. Thank you, dear, for showing us how to live life with grace, faith, strength and unconditional love. You were a truly amazing example for us to follow. And while we all hoped you would reach your goal of living to be 100, we knew in our hearts you were ready to answer His call. We look forward to seeing you again! Louise is survived by her husband and their four children, Lowell "Gerry" (Connie) Swartz, Jr., Linda (Larry) Russell, and Leta Swartz, all of Eugene, and Loren (Kellie) Swartz of Davenport, Iowa. Additional survivors include her treasured grandchildren Lowell "Greg" (Shenaya) Swartz III, Nathan Swartz. Dean (Bettina) Higginson, Melyssa (Corbett) Baxter, Kenneth Carmi Hanchett-Swartz and Katelyn Hanchett-Swartz, as well as her blessed great-grandchildren Karina Swartz, Amani Baxter and Kingston Baxter. Per Louise's request, no service will be held.
