Obituary of Scarlet Shorter

Scarlet F. Shorter of Eugene died Dec. 17 at age 65. The family chose not to list the cause of death.Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.She was born April 7, 1947, in Paris to Clarence and Maryla Witzak Forster. She married Henry Shorter on July 27, 1970, in Clarksville, Tenn.She held a bachelor’s degree in education. She worked as a teacher.Survivors include her husband; a son, Eric of Olympia; two daughters, Carrie Stevey of Richland, Wash., and Elizabeth Shorter of Ferndale, Wash.; and a sister, Sharon Forster of Midwest City, Okla.Burial will be at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 28 in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.
