Obituary of Terence Ogburn
11/5/1988 - 1/10/2013 Our beloved son Terry passed away on January 10. Terry's life was much too short and filled with many peaks and valleys. He always persevered and didn't let the many obstacles that he faced deter him in his quest. Terry leaves behind a very loving family and many friends and family who cared deeply for him. Terry was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene in 1988. He was a bright and cheerful child, teaching himself to read at an early age. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable. Terry attended first through eighth grade at Oak Hill School. He graduated from Marist High School in 2007. He played water-polo, ran track, cross country and played guitar in the jazz band. His proudest achievement was receiving his Associate of Applied Science Degree in the Culinary Arts and Food Management program in June of 2012 from Lane Community College. Cooking was his passion and he was good at it! He loved to cook for family and friends and they enjoyed the results. Terry was an active community volunteer at Food for Lane County, Grassroots Garden, Bikes and Burritos, and more. He had many part time jobs over the years and did well at all of them. His dream was to be a chef and his first job after graduation was in the banquet department at the Eugene Hilton where he had done his internship as an undergraduate. Terry had a deep and abiding Christian faith, attending the Collegiate Christian Fellowship, Central Lutheran Church and First Baptist Church in Eugene. We will always miss Terry's ready wit, sense of humor and his kind, generous spirit. Terry is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Debbie, his brother Dennis, dogs Mitzi and Lucy, cats Sadie, Eddie, Fred and Jillian; Grandparents Nonnie & Paul Cole of Eugene and Jeannette Ogburn of Portola Valley, California; His aunts and uncles Steve & Jo Ogburn of Pioneer, California and Matthew & Brenda Ogburn, and nieces Megan and Hanna of Berkeley, California. He loved them all! A Celebration of his life will be held at Central Lutheran Church (18th Ave at Potter St) Friday at 2pm. There will be time to share stories about Terry and remember him for the truly good person that he was. A photographic biography of his life will be shown. Remembrances can be made in his honor to Central Lutheran Church or Greenhill Humane Society. He would have liked that!
