Obituary of Dan Nelson

1959 - 2013 Dan Nelson, 53, went to be with Jesus, Monday, January 21, 2013 at RiverBend Hospital in Springfield, Oregon. He was born on May 4, 1959 in Eugene, Oregon to Richard and Loretta (Chappell) Nelson. Dan grew up in Cheshire, Oregon. He graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, Oregon in 1977. After high school he attended Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon where he received a certificate in auto mechanics. He began work for John-Deere Fisher Implement Co. as a mechanic where he worked for 5 years. He worked for Bi-Mart as a diesel mechanic where he worked for 6 years. Dan most recently worked for Farmer's Insurance as an Insurance agent where he has worked for 24 years. Dan was a member of Calvary Chapel Church, enjoyed studying the bible, riding quads at the coast, four-wheeling on Prairie Mountain, shooting guns, and being with friends at the coffee shop. Dan is survived by his parents Richard and Loretta Nelson of Junction City, Oregon; his brother Bryan (DeAna) Nelson of Roseburg, Oregon; his sister Terri (Ric) Cook of Junction City, Oregon; and his nephews Scott Cook, Mitchell and Darin Nelson, and dearly loved Alex and Emily Hart. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at Christ's Center Church 530 W. 7th Street at 12:00 p.m., January 26, 2013. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to support finding a cure for the disease that ended his life.
