Obituary of Jack Heacock

Jack Heacock of Springfield died on February 11, 2013. He was born August 18, 1935 in Minot, North Dakota to Frank and Pearl Heacock. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1953. On July 2, 1954 he married the Love of His Life Sara Jo Copeland. In 1974 he opened McKenzie Glass which he operated until his retirement in 2007. Jack was a man of Faith, Integrity, Love and Compassion. His work and life ethics were remarkable. He was a member of Springfield Lutheran Church. Jack loved to fish, woodworking, camping, but most of all he loved to go to sporting events to watch his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In 2012 Jack was inducted into the Springfield Athletic Hall of Fame. He was the founding member of the Thurston Football Chain Gang for 38 years. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Pearl Heacock. He is survived by his wife Sara, daughter Lori (Jeff) Dilling, son Jeff (Angie) Heacock , son Jon (Ruth) Heacock; 9 grandchildren: Jack (Rene) Hartman, Joe (Rachel) Dilling, Jim Dilling, Jennifer Heacock, Jeremiah (Kelli) Heacock, Joshua (Anna) Heacock, Justin, Kalah, and Karri Heacock; 10 great-grandchildren: Karlina, Raelynn, Jadenn, Emmalie and Jack Hartman, Jamon, Josie and Jolie Heacock, Paige and Jace Heacock. He is further survived by sisters Susan Heacock, Diana Heacock, brother Joe Heacock and many cherished nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Springfield Lutheran Church- 1542 I Street- Springfield, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Jack’s memory to: Springfield Lutheran Church or Camp Lutherwood- 22960 Highway 36, Cheshire, OR, 97419.
