Obituary of Lahon Grimes

Lahon H. 'Jack' Grimes was born March 31, 1930 in Waurika, OK, to John and Eddythe Grimes. He graduated from Duncan High School in Duncan, OK.He married Ada Lou Smith on September 3, 1955 in Washington, D.C.He joined the U.S. Navy in 1947, was commissioned as an officer in 1958, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander after 23 years of service. While in the service he received the National Defense Service Medal with the Bronze Star, the Viet Nam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.He and his family moved to Springfield in 1970, where he was a small business owner of Kelly's Directional, Inc. for 38 years.Jack was an active adult leader and Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of McKenzie Wood Carver Club and the Oregon Covered Bridge Society.He is survived by his wife, Lou; his sister Lucy Ash; sons and their wives, Karl and Rita of Springfield, Brian and Laura of Menomonee Falls, WI., Paul and Patti of Manassas, VA., grandchildren, Shauna Grimes of Corvallis, Randy Grimes of Monterey, CA., Andrew Grimes of Norwich, CT., and Amanda Grimes of Springfield. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy and Lois and a grandson, Matthew Grimes.A memorial service will be held at Musgrove Family Mortuary, 1152 Olive Street, Eugene, Oregon on Wednesday, February 20th, at 11:00 A.M.
