Obituary of Herman Ruddell

Herman Frederick Ruddell 1942-2013 Herman passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family on February 22, at the age of 70. He was born July 14, 1942 in Dobbs Ferry, NY to Herman and Geraldine (Pillion) Ruddell. He grew up in Connecticut, but the Air Force took him to California and he remained on the west coast the rest of his life, working in California, Washington and Oregon.Herman was active in public and civic service in his local communities. He built his own home in Newport, OR. He was an involved member of the Catholic parish in which he lived. He enjoyed piloting his Cessna 182. In his retirement Herman was an avid and accomplished pinochle player. He is survived by his wife Hope and five children. Living in Eugene are his daughters Haley and Mahala and his son Rick. Another daughter, Justine resides in Wisconsin and a son, Brock in New Hampshire. Also he leaves three grandsons, two step-grandsons and one great grandson. Two brothers, Bill of Connecticut and Andrew of Alabama survive him, as well as two nieces and four nephews.No services are planned at this time.Memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Hospice at 677 E 12th Ave #110, Eugene, OR 97401
