Burley Duncan

Obituary of Burley Duncan

Burley W. “Bill” Duncan was born December 8, 1933 in Centerville, Alabama to Arlander and Everlena Duncan. He was the youngest of twelve children. He went into the navy in 1951. He met and married Lorretta Hundley in 1953. They had two sons, Leonard and Michael; three grandchildren, Lena, Lonnie and Cody and three great-grandchildren who were the light of his life, Madison, Mason and Lucas. Burley and Lorretta moved to Springfield in 1961 after hunting for work. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends as well as fixing anything that was broken. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always was quick to laugh and was usually the man behind some kind of prank he was pulling on one of his friends. He was always patient with his grandchildren, teaching them all to drive and hunt and helping his great-granddaughter with her homework and teaching her how to plant a garden. Papa will be greatly missed and always in our thoughts. There will be a remembrance for him at Joey’s Pizza in Springfield on March 2nd at 1:00pm where we will all be smiling and remembering all the silly and fun times we had with Bill.
