Obituary of Gregory Zwettler

Greg Zwettler, 66, died at home on March 9th. He was surrounded by loving family and friends.Greg was born on January 4, 1947 in Madison, Wisconsin and moved to Eugene in 1974. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and his Master’s degree from the University of Oregon. He was a loyal Badger, Packer, Duck and Trailblazer fan. Greg worked in Eugene 4J as a middle and high school special education teacher for 28 years and retired 6 years ago. After retiring he worked as a volunteer mentor for youth and became a master gardener. He was an athlete who exercised every day of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors in many ways, including hiking, skiing, rafting, swimming, biking and roller skiing. His long morning walks took him through nearly every neighborhood in Eugene. He loved to read, garden cook and travel. Greg was known by all for his generous and kind spirit and his tolerant attitude of acceptance. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he will be missed by all.Greg is survived by his wife Judy Newman, his children Rachel Wheeler and Gabe Zwettler, and two grandchildren, Solomon and Cassidy and step children Sara Degler and Micah Newman two step grandchildren, Luna and Elora his son-in-law Mike Wheeler and step son and daughter -in-law Lucien Delgler and Megan Brewer, his mother Cora Zwettler and his four brothers and two sisters.There will be a gathering to remember and honor his life on Saturday, March 16th from 4 - 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 1685 W 13th Ave, Eugene, OR, 97405.Donations can be sent in his honor to: United Way of Lane County,Committed Partners for Youth/Big Sister Lane County, Birth to Three or ShelterCare, or a charity of your choice.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary.
