Kathleen Kealanohea Meredith passed peacefully at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from complications of Diabetes at the age of 58.Kathy was born on January 11, 1955 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Edward & Millicent Vickery. Kathy moved to Oregon in 1970 to live with her Aunt and Uncle in the Coburg area. Kathy graduated from Sheldon High School in 1972 and attended Lane Community College. She was known to family as Miss Kathy, Kathy or Aunt Tassy. She came into our lives and stayed for a lifetime because she found her place to make a difference in this world serving others. Her calling was not without sacrifice of self and she will be remembered in the days and years ahead as that person we counted on in so many ways. Kathy did not have children of her own and she made all of our children her children. In life, she worked like a man and loved like a mother. She could be out working in the harvest one minute and the next at the grocery store with a cart full of groceries and a kid or two in tow. All of these things gave a richness to her life and created purpose and self worth for her. Kathy wove herself into each of our lives and she will stay part of our family forever. Our family gives a special thanks to Ron Scott who was her friend and companion for the past 8 years. She is survived by her brother, Edward Vickery of Tacoma and sister, Gretchen Killeen of Gig Harbor, WA.
