Obituary of Paul Templeton

Paul Vincent Templeton passed away March 30, 2013 at the age of 72. He had a heart attack while coming home on Highway 36.Paul was born September 3, 1940 in Junction City, OR at the clinic of Richard R. Rogers, M.D., to the proud parents, William Gerald Templeton and Thais Katherine (Kay) Mahony Templeton. He grew up on the family farm west of Cheshire, OR, that had been acquired by Templeton forebearers, Irish immigrants in the late 1860’s, which included homesteads and purchased land.Paul attended grade school at Crown Point, District 110 and Junction City High School, graduating in 1958. Work on the family farm was interrupted with U.S. Army Reserve service, with his assignment being cooking. Paul acquired land and developed a logging business in addition to farming and livestock. He married Norma Jean Bells August 2, 1969. The couple resided near Alderwood State Park until their current home was built in Cheshire, OR.Paul was an astute businessman, a professional logger and enjoyed working out in the woods. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Paul disliked boring, lengthy, unproductive meetings and committee work. He could be relied upon for lengthy, private counsel, and could provide quick, terse comments at meetings that he felt needed his input. He provided voluntary quiet assistance to many individuals whenever needed.Paul is survived by his wife Norma of 43 years, his sisters Judith A. Templeton (Elmira), Norma J. Adams (Springfield), and brother R. Brian Templeton (Junction City), along with many nieces and nephews and many close friends and neighbors.A public memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Oaklea Middle School Cafeteria, 1515 Rose Street, Junction City, OR. Donations may be made to The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Eugene Mission or your choice of charity.The family extends thanks to Lane Fire District staff, Lane County Sheriff deputies, and Oregon State Police officers for their prompt, courteous and responsible help.
