Obituary of Charles Glaspie

Charles Raymond Glaspie, 79 of Springfield, died March 30, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home. A visitation will held Saturday, April 6th, from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Charles was born December 17, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa to Robert and Leola (Dietz) Glaspie. He married Norma Jene Pratt on March 15, 1953 in Waterloo. He attended schools in Waterloo, Iowa and worked for different contractors in Eugene as a plasterer and was a member of Local #82 in Portland, Oregon. He also worked for Benny Bartell for 24 years. Charles loved fishing, hunting and camping, in addition to gardening and helping people. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Laura Russell of Hollister, California; two grandsons, Eddy Russell of San Jose, California and Erik Russell of Plantation, Florida; one great-grandson, Lincoln Russell of Plantation, Florida; and one brother, Ronald Eugene Glaspie of Cottage Grove, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leola Glaspie; three sisters, Darlene Wood, Bonnie Barker and Charlotte Grady; and son-in-law, Edward Eugene Russell.
