Obituary of Bobbie Moore

Bobbie Dean Moore passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on April 3, 2013. He was 89 years of age.Bobbie was born to Earl Moore and Alta Likens Moore on March 13, 1924, in Barnes City, Iowa. The Moore family moved to Dawson, Oregon, when Bobbie was 6 years old. Bob attended Bellfountain Grade School and Monroe High School. He served as a gunner's mate in the US Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged after the close of the war.Bob married Marie Barbee on January 6, 1954, in Eugene. He was employed by EWEB for over 21 years prior to his retirement. Bob was a faithful member of the Eugene Elks Club for over 65 years, where he enjoyed socializing. He also enjoyed rock hounding and traveled widely collecting his specimens. He was a Jim Beam bottle collector and amassed an enviable variety of bottles. He will be fondly remembered for his beautiful orchard and vegetable garden and for happily sharing his produce.Bob is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Marie, his son Marten, his daughter Ardys Matthews, his sister Mary Rice, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren. Private interment will be at Lane Memorial Gardens. A memorial will be held at the Eugene Elks hall from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013. All of Bob's friends and family are invited.Remembrances to Eugene Mission or Greenhill Humane Society.
