Obituary of Eleanor Wallinder
Eleanor Ann Schmidt was born August 10, 1916 in Wendell, Idaho. As a child, she lived in Indiana, Arizona and Oregon before settling in Redding, California, along with her parents Walter and Elsie Schmidt, her brother George, and sisters Leila, Edna and Franny. Eleanor married Peter Wallinder in 1964 and they lived in Anderson, California in a wonderful home along the Sacramento River. She was preceded in death by her family and husband, and she lovingly served and cared for each one. Her most precious gift is her daughter, Desta, and she moved to Eugene in 1993 to be close to her and her family. Eleanor passed away at home on April 11, 2013, under the exceptional, gentle care of the Sacred Heart Hospice team. Sweet Grandma Eleanor? You have been the heart and soul of this family. What an absolute blessing to be known and loved by you, and to have you here so close the past 20 years. You have supported us in our struggles, rejoiced with us in our triumphs, and prayed for each of us every day. Your life has been full of grace and beauty and faith, and you have shown us what it looks like to follow Jesus, love your family with all your heart and pray like a warrior. Thank you for this legacy? we will try to honor your memory with that same grace and love. A beloved mother, grandma, GREAT ?grandma and 'sweet-sweet' (great-great!) grandma? you made this life a little bit of heaven here for us. Thank you, too, for your amazing girl, Desta? our mom and 'Mimi'. We couldn't be more proud of her, and as we've watched her care for you these past few months, we can see that she is truly her mother's daughter. We are all so lucky to have both of you. The little people in your life are offering us the greatest wisdom and comfort as we grieve your loss? they know that "Jesus will make you all better" as you "go to heaven in the sky" and from pure hearts of love say "I am going to love grandma forever. Even when I get old? I'm still gonna love her". So, we will get strength from them. We will miss you so much, but we rejoice that you are home with Jesus? that you are all better? and we will all love you forever.
