Obituary of Lois Johnson
Lois Mary Johnson of Reedsport, OR died of natural causes April 15th, 2013 at the age of 95. She was born in Gardiner, OR on September 22nd, 1917 to Alys and Nelson Hogan, affectionately known to the family as Muzz & Bop. Upon her graduation from the University of Oregon in 1939 she moved first to Ashland, OR, working as a junior high school teacher before returning to the area of her birth and working as the librarian of the Reedsport High School until her retirement in 1979.While in high school Lois met and fell in love with her future husband Irving G. Johnson. The couple was married on September 6th, 1941 at the home of her parents. They made Reedsport their home and together raised two daughters, Lynette and Susan. The couple enjoyed 47 wonderful years of marriage until Irving’s death in August of 1998.Lois eventually moved to Eugene in order to be closer to her family and live out her remaining years. She is survived by her daughters Lynette Saul and Susan Williams, and her grandchildren Michael and Matthew Saul, and Allison and Evan Williams. She will be remembered most for her warm devotion to friends and family, her kindness and generosity, her quick wit and even quicker smile.A celebration of her life will be held privately at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of both the Fox Hollow Residential Care Community and The Hospice of Sacred Heart for their excellent level of care.
