Obituary of Lois Anderson
After a joyous life, Lois Margaret Anderson, of Eugene, passed away on Friday, April 12th, 2013 at the age of 80.Lois was born to Harold and Margaret Fawver on August 3, 1932. After graduating from Elmira High School, Lois earned a degree from Oregon College of Education in 1952 and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon in 1961. She was passionate about education and taught primary school for more than 30 years in Lane County. Along with core academic subjects, Lois believed that children should also learn social and financial responsibility. She maintained lifelong friendships with many of her students and retired from teaching in the late 1980s.In 1962, Lois married the love of her life, A. O. “Bud” Anderson. Together they enjoyed traveling around the country, bowling, and spending time with their many friends. Although they never had children, Lois loved kids and doted on her nieces and nephews, and later on, her great nieces and nephews.After Bud died in 1980, Lois remained devoted to her family and to the many organizations she volunteered with, including Alpha Delta Kappa, the Emblem Club, and the Eugene Hearing and Speech Center. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.Above all, Lois Anderson lived her life as a generous role model and an inspiration to the countless people whose lives she touched. We will miss her every day.Lois was preceded in death by her brother Courtland and her sister Mildred. She is survived by her brother, Don, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.Visitation will be at West Lawn Memorial Park (225 S. Danebo, Eugene, OR) on Monday, April 22nd from 9am-12pm with a memorial service to follow at 1pm. Burial will be at Lane Memorial (5300 West 11th, Eugene, OR) following the memorial service.Memorial contributions can be made in Lois' name to the Eugene Hearing and Speech Center.
